Apple sells its millionth iPad

How big will the iPad be? Today Apple announced that it has sold its one millionth iPad. This is a mere 28 days after its release. For comparison, the iPhone took 74 days to reach the one million mark. Granted the iPhone did not really take off until the priced dropped, and boy did it take off. According to AppleInsider, Apple should expect to sell 36 million iPhones this year. So the iPad has a bunch of catching up to do. But that's not the point. The point is that in its first incarnation the iPad is killing it. I've been saying for a while that this device could change the nature of personal computing. Perhaps it relegates the laptop back into more of a desktop role. Perhaps it replaces the laptop. One thing is for sure, as of now I would rather own a laptop than an iPad, but ramp up its capabilities - introduce multitasking, etc. - and I would be typing this note on an iPad in a heartbeat.
